The Secretary General Prof. Konstantinos Karantzalos and Mr. Dimitrios Bliziotis, Earth Observation Officer at the Hellenic Space Center, participated in the Living Planet Symposium 2025, an international conference organized by the European Space Agency (ESA).

During the symposium, Prof. Karantzalos and Mr. Bliziotis presented the development and vision of the National SmallSat Programme, within panel discussions that featured representatives from ESA, as well as from other ESA Member States implementing national space missions, such as Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Poland. The panels also included members of the scientific community, end-users, and the general public.

Both the presentations and technical workshops highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation between countries, the exchange of know-how, and the interoperability of national and European space infrastructures and missions.

The strong Greek presence reaffirmed the country’s active engagement in the evolving European space ecosystem, showcasing the National SmallSat Programme as a strategic enabler supporting critical applications in Earth observation, security, and resilience.
