Center for Space Research and Technology of the Academy of Athens
The Center for Space Research and Technology was established in 2023 to replace the “Office of Space Research and Technology,” which had been founded in February 2006 following the election of Professor Stamatios M. Krimigis as a full member of the Academy of Athens in the chair “Space Sciences – Theory and Applications,” which took place in November 2004.

National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”
Founded in July 1961 as a Research Centre for Nuclear Research, Demokritos is today the largest multidisciplinary Research Centre of Greece with approximately 180 Researchers in tenured and tenure-track positions and over 500 Research Personnel working in projects funded mainly by grants from State Funds, the European Union and Private Industries.
The Centre consists of six independent Institutes focusing on different scientific fields. It is governed by the Board of Directors and is supervised by the General Secretariat of Research and Innovation, which is in the Ministry of Development.

Foundation of Research and Technology – Institute of Astrophysics
The Institute of Astrophysics (IA) at FORTH began its journey in 2019 and is the only research institute in Greece devoted exclusively to Astrophysics. It builds on nearly three decades of highly successful research activity by the astrophysics group within the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of FORTH and the Department of Physics of the University of Crete.
Its goal is to understand the cosmos, and to have tremendous fun while doing so. Its work focuses on some of the most persistent open questions of theoretical and observational astrophysics, and in the process it trains the next generation of scientists and engineers for careers in astrophysics and beyond. The institute works within the strongly multidisciplinary environment of FORTH, building strategic international partnerships and acting as a home or meeting point for outstanding researchers from around the world. It gives back through outreach, education, innovation, and joint and mutually beneficial projects with the local authorities and the private sector.
