On Tuesday, November 1st, the President of the H.S.C., Prof. I. Daglis, the CEO, Dr N. Sergis, and the Governing Board member, Prof. K. Karantzalos, visited the Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy (MMAIP), after invitation. A meeting was held with Minister Mr. I. Plakiotakis, the Deputy Minister Mr. C. Katsafados, and the Secretary General of the Aegean and Island Policy Mr. M. Koutoulakis, as well as with associates of the MMAIP and the Ministry of Digital Governance. Topics of mutual interest were discussed, such as the possibility of developing satellite solutions for the detection and monitoring of marine pollution hotspots (e.g. oil spills, sewage) and the investigation of cooperation possibilities between the relevant ministries and agencies.
