The HSC at the World Space Week of the UOA 

The Hellenic Space Center successfully participated in the event organised by the Section of Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics of the UOA Department of Physics in the scope of World Space Week, on Sunday, October 22th, 2023, at the Department of Physics in Panepistimiopolis, Zografou.  

The HSC carried out an educational activity for elementary pupils, titled “Constructing microsatellites”, demonstrating how a microsatellite gets developed, including a presentation and the construction of a paper microsatellite. 

The HSC team consisted of:

The HSC at the World Space Week of the UOA

The Hellenic Space Center participates in the event organized by the Section of Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics of the UOA Department of Physics in the scope of World Space Week, on Sunday, October 22th, 2023. Personnel of the HSC will demonstrate how a microsatellite gets developed, including a presentation and the construction of a paper satellite. Reservations are required for participation, which can be made through a google form. Educational activity of the HSC at the 5th Primary School of Salamina

The Hellenic Space Center accepted an invitation by the 5th Primary School of Salamina, to carry out educational activities on Space Technology and Exploration. 
On Tuesday, June 6, students learned about the basic states of a virtual Mars exploration missions, and performed an exercise including building a robotic rover, conducting an experiment with soil samples, and launching a rocket.  
The purpose of the HSC’s educational activity was to bring children in contact with space technologies, satellite technology, spaceship structure, space exploration, etc.

Educational activity of the HSC at the Primary School of Kainourio

The Hellenic Space Center accepted an invitation by the Primary School of Kainourio, Kamena Vourla, to carry out educational activities on Space Technology and Exploration. 

On Tuesday, May 30, students learned about the basic states of a virtual Mars exploration missions, and performed an exercise including building a robotic rover, conducting an experiment with soil samples, and launching a rocket. Additionally, they learned about the operation and purpose of the International Space Station and also about the origin of comets and their influence on Earth’s evolution, “cooking” a comet nucleus in the classroom. Finally, they heard the fascinating story of the Rosetta mission and built mini replicas of the spacecraft out of cardboard.
 
The purpose of the HSC’s educational activity was to bring children in contact with space technologies, satellite technology, spaceship structure, space exploration, etc.

Presentation of the H.S.C. Scientific Personnel in an AUTH lecture

On Friday, January 20th, 2023, members of the Scientific Personnel of the Hellenic Space Center presented Space Engineering topics to students of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, upon invitation by Professor Mr. Alkiviadis Hatzopoulos, as part of the “Systems Reliability” course.

ESA’s Cube Sat Summer School 2022

ESA Education Office’s latest initiative, the “CubeSat Summer School 2022”, will take place over four weeks from 8 August to 2 September 2022 at ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium. It will deliver an extensive mix of lectures and hands-on activities. The entire project lifecycle of a satellite mission will be covered, from design to verification, launch and operations. Upon completing the Summer School, participants will have gained the multidisciplinary knowledge and skills needed to undertake space-related projects, and will be better prepared to join the European space sector.
