The H.S.C. President, Professor Ioannis Daglis, participated in the informal meeting of the Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with space agency leaders, who took part in the COSPAR-2022 Scientific Assembly in Athens last week.
Two NASA delegations recently visited the premises of the H.S.C. for business meetings.
On Monday, July 18th, 2022, the H.S.C welcomed Thomas Zurbuchen, NASA Associate Administrator for Space Science, Kathryn Lueders, Associate Administrator for the Space Operations Mission Directorat, with their associates, Rebecca Levy and Cullen Balinski. The President of the H.S.C. gave a brief presentation of the Center, followed by a discussion on the development of a bilateral collaboration.
On Monday, July 25th, 2022, the H.S.C. premises were visited by Florian Schwandner, Chief of the Earth Science Division at NASA Ames Research Center, Conor Nixon, Associate Laboratory Chief of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Steve Vance, from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Jani Radebaugh, from Brigham Young University. The scientific personnel of the H.S.C. attended the meeting, along with Elias Hatzitheodoridis, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Olga Sykioti, IAASARS/NOA, and Ioannis Baziotis, Agricultural University of Athens (AUA).
Short presentations were given by all the participants and an extensive discussion followed.
The H.S.C. President Prof. Ioannis Daglis visited the Secretary General of the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy Prof. Evanthis Hatzivassiliou. Prof. Hatzivassiliou offered to Prof. Daglis a tour of the exhibition on Images and Music of the Greek Refugees of 1922. A discussion on activities of joint interest followed the tour.
On Wednesday, June 22nd, an event in honor of Space Scientist and Academic Dr. Stamatios Krimizis, was organized by the Hellenic Space Center. The event took place at Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall, and included talks from the Minister of State and Digital Governance Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the President of the H.S.C Prof. Ioannis Daglis, the President of World Human Forum Ms. Alexandra Mitsotaki, and Director Giannis Vamvakas.
In the scope of the event, Dr. Krimizis received a special award for his overall contribution to Space Sciences, from the President of the H.S.C., and the award-winning documentary “Chasing the planets for 60 years: Stamatis Krimizis” was premiered, directed and produced by Yiannis Vamvakas and including music composition by Vangelis Papathanasiou.
The Italian Space Agency (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana – ASI) and the Hellenic Space Center (HSC) invite you to a joint online event promoting the cooperation between the Italian and the Greek Space ecosystems. This virtual event will take place on Monday, July 11, 10 am to 1pm EEST and will focus on:
- Earth Observation and related applications
- Nanosatellites and Space technologies
The event will start with introductory presentations from the two Agencies, and will be followed by an industry session where companies will present their capabilities, heritage, and perspectives on Greek-Italian Space cooperation. View the program here.
